a birdie with a broken wing

Here is a picture of Madison in hospital las week when we had a little scare. She looked so cute with her arm wrapped up like a little bird with a broken wing. I just had to take a picture.

First yoga class

Madison took her first ever yoga class today. we found this great place that has parent/ baby classes and had great fun. She was mostly good but that was plenty considering we were there for about two hours. She skipped her 10 am nap and is going for second hour in an afternoon nap which is very much not like her. I think all the yoga tired her.
it was so great to meet other mothers who have kids her age and to realize that everyone goes through the same problems at some point in time. It was also fun to be around all these babies and see all the different things they do. We all went to the park and had a really nice time.
My intention was to go and do her passport pictures today but every time we go close to the photo place she falls asleep. After leaving the park ( she was out the moment i started walking that's how tired she was) i walked for about an hour exploring the Riverside park to keep her asleep.
Madison has another trip coming next Sunday ( yes, not even two days after i get 6 teeth pulled out) we are going to California. We are just going to keep daddy company during a business trip but we are looking forward a change in scenery.
I don't have pictures of Madi's first yoga class but here are some from Passover and the week before

Cheerios?

Many many things have happened since my last update.
1.Madison had a little scare and was rushed to the ER in St. Lukes. Her right started twitching while she was asleep and i completely freaked out and ran there. they couldn't find anything wrong with her and are sending us to see a neurologist. They were very speedy and attentive but were looking at me funny b/c i seemed to have brought in a perfectly healthy child who was smiling and talking. she did scream a bit mostly b/c they swaddled her to take blood.
2. she had her first passover and extremely enjoyed the wine. Was voted the best baby ever by relatives and the CT scan guy in the hospital.
3 Managed successfully to stick all five fingers in her mouth.
4 Went for her 4 month check up yesterday and is growing beautifully- 14.5lbs and 25 inches. she got two shots and forgot about them the moment the needle was out of her thigh- she is my little superhero.
5. since she seems very interested in what we eat i decided to see if she would eat some cereal. When i mentioned that my husband got very excited and said: " We can give her Cheerios"

Another Trip

This time we went to Washington, DC. Last time we were there Madison was still swimming in buckets of amniotic fluid and couldn't enjoy the view, while i waas swimming in buckets of sweat due to my pregnancy and couldn't enjoy the walks in 90 degrees weather. This trip was much more pleasant.
Madison visited the white house and we finally managed to take a picture without the annoying asian lady who was trying very hard to walk into Madison's keepsake.
We stopped and smelled the roses ( cherry blossoms that is) and got kicked out of the convention center because Baby's strollers are the biggest hazard these days.
Madison loved the hotel and lounged on the king-size bed watching TV. She refused to sleep in the crib they gave us so was sprawled in between Jeff and me but thanks to the size of that bed one of us were close to each other.
I took her to the National geographic museum to see the frog exhibit but she was only fascinated by the flat screen TV.
No matter where we go people stop me on the street to tell how cute she is. As flattered as i am that scares me a bit.

Here are some pictures to admire
We dance naked and went to a great Marroccan restaurant where Mady showed them how to shake their bellies.

Happy birthday mommy!!

I gotta say my husband finds ways to surprise me that never see coming. and i have to give it to him he knows me better than i give him credit for.
This morning after I finally got up because my little bug was happily swimming in a pool of poop without so much of a complaint i found a card on the coffee machine that was very sweet. an hour later when i went to put Madison for a nap a found a second card- that's the one that caught me unprepared- saying Happy birthday mommy! I promise to be extra good today and that means not too much poop!- Too late for that.
And as you can guess Madison didn't write that one. I thought that was extra sweet.

As far my failing attempts to put my child on some kind of schedule go so far the only thing we've managed to agree on is a 10:00 am nap. It doesn't matter if she wakes up at 6 or 7 or 9 she naps at 10. Then she refuses to sleep until she crashes around 4 and is tired for the rest of the night. Bedtime is still in discussion and we are back to getting up 3-4 times during the night. I am starting to wonder about the whole schedule thing. they say kids love predictability- but may be child is just like me and hate routines. she seems to thrive on unpredictability- when we go out and we are out of town or have to run errands and eat and sleep whenever. So may be i should just let her be despite what every pediatrician says.

She is looking more and more like a little person. She is trying to sit up more. It's just that her little tummy doesn't have the necessary muscles to accomplish that yet. IT's so fascinating to watch her learn stuff that we take for granted. Like fighting gravity every time i support her standing and wobbling about because she can't balance her little body. She is slowly mastering her coordination and trying to grab and touch everything before her eyes. Finally figured out how to stick her thumb in her mouth after she explored all the other fingers and now she happily sucks on it whenever she remembers it's there.
She changes every day and a part of me can't wait to see her crawl and walk and laugh and talk but another part wants to keep her this small and sweet forever.
And me I am happy that my weight is going down- past the 140 mark now and another 15 lb to go to my pre-pregnancy weight. I slowly take out my normal clothes and get excited every time i fit into something new.
I am happy that i am 27 and that it's finally getting warm enough that i don't have to be imprisoned into my apartment any more.

Highlights from the trip

We certainly slept a lot due to the hot weather and humidity.

Madison got to go for her first swim in her new bathing suit.
We visited great great aunt Sylvia who couldn't figure out who Madison looks like. Grandma for reasons beyond me thought it was wise to give a pancake ( a mix of wheat, eggs and buttermilk) to a 3 month old baby. So until Madison is able to pick up a spoon and feed her own self she would not be enjoying the company of Grandma without adult supervision

we got to spend a lot of quality time with daddy and he is very happy that Madison now recognizes him and smiles at him and of course we played with mommy

world traveler

I realize it has been quite a while since i have written last but time flies when you have a little munchkin.
We went to visit grandma and grandpa in Florida and loved the warm weather. Madison keeps proving what an amazingly good baby she is. She didn't mind flying- we had issues because she missed nap time but other than that the flight didn't phase her. She didn't mind being in a different place every time she opened her eyes either. We went to Club Med @ Sandpiper to visit Silvan and fly and she loved it. She slept while we played tennis, enjoyed the company of Rachel while we were doing archery and stayed with Grandma and grandpa while we went sailing. she sat with us at mealtime and calmly observed the world. I got over my anxiety about breastfeeding in public and have no problem whipping out a boob any time now to feed her.
We bought a new stroller ( b/c we don't have enough) that we can jog with and she loves it.
Here are some pictures:

She looked very pretty in purple
we celebrated our one year anniversary three days after Madison turned 3 months ( you do the math)
she took naps with mommy
and with daddy
and hung out with Uncle Ruben, who was like a walking billboard for every trapeze school in the Tristate area, while we flew.

One thing i figured out on this trip- my but is still way too big to get into a back end split( or set split for that matter) but it sure feels good to be flying again.
